SEEN’s Bluetooth dongle keeps it simple

IRIS 860 Setup Dongle

You can adjust the detection settings and alert volume for each IRIS 860 sensor to match your workplace needs. It's crucial to set the detection distance to alert before someone gets dangerously close to the machine. However, it's equally important not to set the detection area too large, as this may lead to unnecessary alerts that could bother the operator and lead to complacency. Finding the right balance may require some trial and error. The easiest way to do this is by using our Bluetooth dongle, which replaces the config cable. There are several sensor settings you can modify:

  1. Critical Alert Zone: On a forklift, this is usually set between 3m (9ft) and 4m (12ft), but the exact distance depends on your workplace and machine type. For larger machines like wheel loaders, a range of 5m-8m is common. When something is detected in this zone, it triggers a continuous loud audible alert.

  2. Early-Warning Zone: The early warning zone, indicated by beeping, lets you know that the critical alert zone is approaching.

  3. Reverse-Only Activation: To avoid unnecessary alerts, sensors mounted on the rear of forklifts, wheel loaders, or other mobile machines are often set to alert only when the machine is in reverse gear.

  4. Alert Volume: The alert is intentionally loud, but you can lower it if needed.

We recommend that every work place with sensors, also has a dongle available for ready access to our free Sensor Setup app.
